PTI expresses concern over IK’s ‘deteriorating’ health

ISLAMABAD: The opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday raised alarm over the deteriorating health of their jailed founder, demanding immediate access to his medical team, the restoration of his meeting privileges, and his swift release.

The demands came after a joint meeting of PTI’s parliamentary committee, which included senators, members of the National Assembly, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The party emphasised that there would be no compromise on Imran Khan’s health, and urged the authorities to grant him access to medical care and restore his ability to meet with party officials.

The committee also condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan, expressing deep sorrow over the deaths of security forces and civilians.

PTI extended its condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated its commitment to national unity in the fight against terrorism.

In addition, the party welcomed a recent meeting between Afridi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif aimed at resolving provincial issues.

PTI urged the federal government to clear outstanding dues to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in relation to the National Finance Commission (NFC), National Health Fund (NHF) and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) funds.

The meeting also called for the immediate rehabilitation of families displaced from the Tirah Valley due to harsh weather conditions.

PTI reaffirmed its support for decisions made by the Khyber Jirga and urged all relevant institutions to play an active role in restoring peace and addressing public concerns in the tribal areas.

The party announced plans for its ‘nationwide protests’, including a shutter-down and wheel-jam strike on February 8, aimed at protesting what PTI called the theft of the public mandate in 2024 polls.

PTI declared that it will hold peaceful demonstrations across the country at all costs, with businesses voluntarily closing to voice opposition to the alleged injustice.

It also condemned the recent arrests and raids on party workers in Sindh and Punjab, reaffirming its commitment to protecting citizens’ constitutional and political rights.
