SHAHEED BENAZIRABAD: First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Sunday inaugurated a new cardiac hospital in Shaheed Benazirabad, marking a major step toward strengthening public healthcare and expanding access to free treatment for heart diseases in Sindh.
The new facility, operated under the Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, has been relocated from Peoples Medical University Hospital, Nawabshah, to a dedicated site, significantly enhancing its capacity and range of services.
The hospital comprises 55 beds and is equipped with modern cardiac emergency facilities.
Under the initiative, patients will receive free primary angioplasty services as well as paediatric cardiac care. Authorities said stroke intervention services would also be introduced in the future to further expand specialised treatment options.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari said the SICVD has emerged as the world’s largest free cardiac healthcare network.
She said institutions like SICVD have become a lifeline for underprivileged and marginalised segments of society by providing quality healthcare without financial burden.
She added that the state-of-the-art hospital would ensure dignified, timely and completely free treatment for patients, and expressed gratitude to charitable organisations for their support in establishing the facility.
Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho said the provincial government was fully committed to strengthening public health institutions and described the SICVD Shaheed Benazirabad hospital as an important addition to Sindh’s medical infrastructure.
