KARACHI: The Chairman of K-Electric’s Board of Directors, Mark Gerard Skelton, has approved the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Moonis Alvi, sources confirmed.
According to sources, three candidates have been shortlisted for the position of the new CEO of K-Electric. All three shortlisted individuals belong to Karachi and possess extensive experience in the energy and finance sectors.
A meeting of the K-Electric Board of Directors is scheduled for next week, while the board elections are expected to be held during the holy month of Ramazan.
According to sources, the new board will make the final decision on the appointment of the next CEO.

In the interim, the current board will interview the shortlisted candidates and submit its recommendations to the incoming board.
K-Electric’s board comprises 13 members in total; however, three seats have remained vacant for an extended period.
Following Moonis Alvi’s resignation, the number of serving board members has declined to nine.
Sources further revealed that uncertainty has spread at K-Electric’s head office after the CEO’s resignation, with senior officials expressing concern over the company’s future direction.
