35 women cricketers to attend skills and fitness camp in Karachi

LAHORE: A total of 35 women cricketers will take part in a four-week skills and fitness camp, set to commence in Karachi from 21st December, as part of preparations for upcoming international series.

The players, who recently featured in the National Women’s One-Day Tournament held in Faisalabad, have been selected to further enhance their skills and fitness ahead of busy international season.

During the camp, the cricketers will undergo intensive skills sessions, participate in practice matches and work on their overall fitness at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre under the supervision of the academy coaches.

The camp forms an important part of Pakistan women’s preparations ahead of their tour of South Africa, where they are scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is from 10th February to 1st March.

Players are: Aliya Riaz, Anam Amin, Anosha Nasir, Ayesha Zafar, Diana Baig, Dua Majid, Eyman Fatima, Fatima Sana, Gull Feroza, Gull Rukh, Hafsa Khalid, Humna Bilal, Huraina Sajjad, Lubna Behram, Momina Riasat, Muneeba Ali, Najiha Alvi, Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Neha Sharmim, Noreen Yaqoob, Omaima Sohail, Rameen Shamim, Rida Aslam, Sadaf Shamas, Saira Jabeen, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sidra Amin, Syeda Aroob Shah, Syeda Masooma Zahra, Tasmia Rubab, Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, Waheeda Akhtar and Yusra Amir.

Moreover, Beacon house School will go up against Aitcheson College in the final of the PCB-Ghani Glass 40-over School Cricket Tournament at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday (today).

The winner of the tournament will be awarded PKR 1 million, while the runners-up will grab cash prize of PKR 500,000. The player of the tournament will be awarded PKR 75,000, while the best batter, bowler and wicket-keeper of the tournament will bag PKR 50,000 cash prize. The player of the final will get PKR 25,000.

The PCB-Ghani Glass Schools Tournament kicked off on 1st November with eight schools - Aitcheson College, Beacon house, Crescent Grammar School, Gohar Education System, Moon Public School, Muslim Model High School, Pilot School, and The City School - playing a single-league round-robin format 40-over tournament.

Aitcheson, Beacon house, The City School and Gohar Education finished top four and qualified for the semi-finals, which took place on 28th and 29th November. Both the finalists have so far won seven games each out of the eight that they have played so far and will look to go one better on Saturday to lift the trophy.
