HSD price slashed by Rs14; petrol’s kept unchanged

ISLAMABAD: The federal government announced a significant reduction in the price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) while maintaining the price of petrol for the second half of December (December 16 to 31).

The price of HSD was reduced by Rs 14.00 per litre, dropping from Rs 279.65 to Rs 265.65 per litre. The price of petrol was kept unchanged at Rs 263.45 per litre.

The reduction in the HSD rate is linked to a notable drop in global prices: HSD: Average international prices fell by 7.8 percent to USD81.40 per barrel in the first half of December, down from USD88.27 per barrel in the prior period. The average price of petrol saw a slight decline to USD75.20 per barrel. The rupee remained relatively stable against the US dollar, averaging 280.59 during this period

The rate of IFEM increased on HSD from Rs 6.13 to Rs 6.23 per litre, whereas, IFEM on petrol reduced from Rs 8.20 to Rs 8.16 per litre. Similarly, on Kerosene oil, the IFEM reduced from Rs 8.07 to Rs 8.03 per litre and LDO from Rs 4.58 to Rs 4.56 per litre.
