LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has foiled a major drug smuggling attempt on the M-1 Motorway by recovering a large quantity of narcotics and arresting one suspect.
According to officials, the CNF conducted a targeted operation near the Burhan Interchange on the basis of credible intelligence. During the operation, a suspicious vehicle was intercepted and searched, leading to the recovery of 248 kilograms of narcotics, including 233 kilograms of charas and 15 kilograms of opium. The accused was arrested at the spot.Authorities said legal proceedings are being initiated under the Punjab Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2025, while further investigations are underway to trace the wider network involved in the smuggling attempt and identify other suspects.
The CNF stated that the successful operation reflects its strong intelligence network, professional competence, and operational effectiveness. It reiterated that the government of Punjab is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, “Drug-Free Punjab, Healthy and Safe Punjab”, the CNF said indiscriminate action against drug trafficking networks will continue to safeguard the public, particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of narcotics.
