Hotel blaze in Lahore’s Gulberg claims three lives, injures six

A fire broke out at a local hotel in Lahore’s Gulberg area on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of three people and burn injuries to six others, Aaj News reported.

Punjab government Secretary for Emergency Services Rizwan Naseer confirmed the three deaths, stating that the victims died due to suffocation. He added that six people were also injured after suffering burns caused by the fire.

Following the fire, a total of 275 people were safely evacuated from the hotel, he added.

The Rescue Command and Control Center said it received the report of the fire at 12:25pm, after which 27 vehicles were dispatched for rescue and firefighting operations.

In a post on X, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said “a major tragedy was averted today at Indigo Tower, Gulberg. Upon receiving reports of a fire in the basement, the Emergency Response Team was immediately mobilised. Minister Energy Faisal Khokhar, Commissioner, DC and all concerned officials are present on site to oversee the operation”.
